The FA Cup returns in midweek as the only replay from the fourth round of action gets settled. This is a match up at the King Power Stadium between Leicester and Derby. Leicester only just survived the trial at Pride Park two weeks ago when captain Wes Morgan popped up from the back to net a late equaliser for them. That was an upset avoided, but they now have to pick themselves up from their current slump in form to try and book their berth in the fifth round.
Leicester have only scored in two of their last seven games, but the goals came in FA Cup games, so while they are on a 2017 barren goal streak in the Premier League, they have been finding the back of the net in the FA Cup (four goals in two games). So perhaps the Premier League side will just be able to avoid suffering at the hands of the Championship outfit on Wednesday night when the two go at it again.
Leicester have won each of their last four on home soil against the Rams and in total have netted fourteen goals in those four wins. Right now, because of their Premier League demise, with the reigning champions just above the drop zone, they are a little vulnerable but this could be a chance to blow off some of that pressure and enjoy themselves a little bit. Their defence, despite conceding two goals at Pride Park, didn’t come under a tremendous amount of pressure from the Rams in the first meeting.
So can the Foxes pull this one out, considering that they have home winning form against the Rams? Or will it be the Championship underdogs who will be looking at this extra game with some fervour and belief that they can claim the scalp still of the top flight team? They can take positives in that they so nearly saw off the Foxes at the first time of asking and they did take a 2-1 win at West Brom in the third round to boot. It is likely going to be a pretty intense clash and if recent history between them in Leicester is anything to go by, there will be goals.
